After all, the Modern Warfare name calls back to a time when the series didn’t quite have the baggage that builds up after 16 years of continuous releases. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising if Activision is banking on the positive vibes associated with the Modern Warfare name to jumpstart the latest entry in the franchise. While Call of Duty continues to be a mammoth seller in the industry, the COD entries of this console generation haven’t quite reached the highs set by previous entries. This makes the return of story mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare an interesting development indeed. Yes, I know I’m probably one of the few gaming dinosaurs who want my shooters to come with a dedicated campaign but I honestly just don’t think that any shooter is complete without it. As a result, I called BLOPS 4 “almost the best” COD game at the time.
